SEER
Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio. SEER measures a unit's cooling efficiency. The higher the number, the greater the efficiency.
Single Package
An outdoor unit that contains both a heating and a cooling system.
Split System
Refers to an air conditioner or heat pump that is combined with indoor components, such as an evaporator coil inside and a condenser coil outside your home.
Thermostat
A device that monitors and controls your temperature inside your home.
Upflow
A type of furnace that draws cool air from the bottom and blows the warmed air out the top.
Ventilator
A ventilator captures heating or cooling energy from stale indoor air and transfers it to fresh incoming air.
Zone
Zoning allows you to control the heating and cooling delivered to specific areas of your house for a custom solution. Zoning can increase efficiency and comfort in the areas of the house you use most often.
TOILET TERMINOLOGY
Elongated Bowl
The bowl has an oval shape and extended front rim to provide maximum comfort, and added style.
Flush Valve
Located at the center of the tank, this valve is activated by the toilet's flush handle and releases the water
held in the tank. A larger flush valve increases the water flow rate through the toilet.
Gravity Flush System
This system uses nothing more than water weight to generate flushing pressure. It's quiet, simple, and requires less maintenance than other, more complex flushing systems.
One Piece Toilet
Like the name suggests, this toilet is one complete unit. This allows for easy cleaning by eliminating those
nooks and crannies that bacteria like to hide in.
Pressure Assisted Flush System
A pressurized air tank assists the toilet's flushing process. This system can be very noisy, more expensive, and can require regular, costly maintenance.
Round Bowl
A more traditional bowl, the round design is ideal for bathrooms with limited space.
Skirted
Enclosing the trapway with a smooth covering, allowing for easy cleaning and an elegant look.
Trapway
The trapway is the snake-like tubing at the sides of your toilet which water flushes through. The better designed and larger the trapway, the less chances there are for clogs.
Two Piece Toilet
With this toilet, the tank and bowl come separately then are coupled together. These toilets are generally less expensive than the one piece design. This toilet is also known as a close coupled toilet.
